Thanks Narciso!!

I've been waiting until warmer temps to wear this awesome Narciso Rodriguez dress, but today I said "forget it" and wore it with the ol' tights/boots combo! I LOVE this dress bc much like one of my other fav fashion forward designers, Vera Wang, NR has a line for us budget gals at Kohl's!! LOVE!!!! Thanks for making a high end line come down to the masses a bit! I love that designers are doing this more and more. Target and Kohl's do it the best, I think. Though...I'd like it if Target figured out a better way to do it bc I am NOT sacrificing my Saturday AM sleep to wait in line for one of the 100 pieces of "insert designer's name here" collection. I have never been able to snag anything from those capsule collections because I am just NOT willing to throw elbows and brawl for an item of clothing. The first one was Missoni. I sauntered in like a week after the launch and couldn't even find a Missoni printed scarf in sight. ARGH! Though, my boots (which you've seen a lot this winter) are one of my all time FAV pairs and they are from YEARS ago when Issac Mizrahi (LOVE!) had a collection at Target. At any rate, I'm loving my green today. Thanks Narciso!!

Today, history is being made...and hopefully it is history that we can all be proud of! The Supreme Court is starting a two day, historic same-sex marriage trial.  I am wearing red in support of equal rights for all. Snow Leopard Skinnies on a Snow Day!

So maybe these aren't exactly snow leopard, but they are most certainly some sort of leopard (or cheetah maybe, but who cares...) and it is INDEED a snow day! I figured, if I have to go to work on a day like today, then by golly, I'm wearing my leopard skinnies! I feel like such a fashion rebel! I tried to make it look a tad more professional with how I styled them. Honestly, I've been eyeing them in my closet wanting to wear them so today I just went for it! I also had to overcome a fashion rule that I've lived by all my 30 something years....black and navy! AHHHHH!!! Yes, my shoes are black and I'm wearing a navy cardi. I had to do some deep breathing before committing, but I said "why the heck not"?! It's kinda like "no white after labor day" or "match your shoes and bag" or even wearing black and brown together...kinda no longer the "rules". They are almost anti- rules that the "cool fashion kids" break them all the time. So, maybe I'm a little cool, eh?! Happy spring snow day, east coasters!!!

First Day of Spring!!

Depending on where you live (East Coast!) it may not feel like spring, but I know it's here...technically! Being that today is the first official day makes me a little bit giddy. Even though it's supposed to get down to 28 degrees tonight, I'll still hold onto the sun that  is shining today and eagerly anticipate the warmer days ahead! Today's ensemble is a very typical cold weather dress style for me. Though I see some gals rocking the skirts with bare legs during winter (in the snow...yikes, that's brave!) that is just not for me. I love my tights and boots and will wear them happily until my legs can go goosebump free. I'm giving a lecture today so I was unsure as to whether or not I should wear such a bold pattern on my dress...will I confuse and distract them? Give them a headache? A seizure?! Just kidding...though I do remember once hearing tips for how to dress when you are speaking to a crowd. I vaguely remember the advice being something like: wear solid colors, no crazy patterns, etc. I'm breaking all the rules today! Oh well! It's my nod to the changing season (deep, but bold colors remind me of the seasonal transition we are going through) and I love it! Happy first day o' SPRING!!

St. Patty's Day Do-Over!

We didn't do much yesterday in honor of the very fun and spring-y holiday, St. Patrick's Day. We did however go to brunch! In my foggy, hungry haze I didn't even TRY to wear any green. We both left the house wearing shades of black, white and blue with not a spot of green in sight. Oops! Luckily, our red haired and probably very Irish server was professional enough to not give us pinches, but I still felt bad. Kinda like telling a kid that Santa isn't real. Not wearing green on St. Patty's day?!?! Oh the shame... SO...I made up for it today!  Hopefully leprechauns and Irish alike will forgive me!

Pants- Loft
Blouse- Old Navy
Jacket- Charlotte Russe
Shoes- Target

Pattern Meets Texture

Normally, I would try to be a little more tame and put something a little "flatter" (read: plain white t) under a Chanel-esque, boucle jacket like this, but for some reason I felt bold this AM. Lots of fashionistas mix patterns with textures and I always love the final outcome. Plus, fashion minds like Nina Garcia, Tim Gunn, and Michael Kors ALWAYS rave about the use of texture on my fav show "Project Runway", so I must be doing something right, right?! Hopefully mine works as well as I've seen other looks work before. I've once again declared Friday jeans day at work as I just wasn't as excited about another day of slacks! UGH! BORING! I love seeing all the other west Coast and FL bloggers who are wearing bare legs, dresses, and open toes (though I'm a bit jealous)! We're getting there here on the East Coast, but still in the 40s!! Happy Friday all and here's to another weekend!

Monday, 3/1/13

Whew! I am sorry you guys...I have been MIA! It wasn't bc I needed a break after that last challenge. I've been sick sick sick. Honestly, I think it was just a cold but man did it throw me for a  loop. I didn't post anything bc all of last week I was either in pjs or workout clothes for the couple of days I dragged my butt to work. I'm still stuffy but finally feeling human again! Whew! I'm back and will try to make it up to you by being a good, dedicated blogger and posting every day! I didn't even get online to see what my fav bloggers have been wearing/up to so you know I was really feeling crummy! Here is an ensemble from this weekend (below)- meant to shoot and post my day time outfits, but I found myself running out of the house and forgot to capture them. Weekend Update.

Morning all! I'm sorry I've been MIA! Having been out of town for the weekend and now seemingly out of my body (sick- yuck!), I have been slacking on the updates. I've worn workout clothes to work the last two days (nice bene of working in my field), so I don't have outfit posts to share, but I do have my concert ensemble which I promised. If you follow me on FB you already saw it. The concert was a BLAST but I'm pretty sure our wild night in the city is part of the reason I'm super sick now. I thought I did pretty well taking care of myself (eating a nice meal at an NYC est, not drinking too much alcohol, and sleeping a moderate amount before heading home on Sat), but the sheer volume of germs I was introduced to at the concert alone is probably to blame. Oh well! I've been pretty lucky not being sick all winter so I'll take an end of the season chest cold.

3/1/13
Skinnies- Old Navy
Top- Kohl's (Candie's)
Necklace- Bauble Bar
Jacket- Wilson's Leather outlet
Shoes- Simply Vera by Vera Wang for Kohl's
Bangles- combo of Bauble Bar and  Pick Your Plum

Nail polish stickers-Sally Hansen- I would NEVER spend $10.99 on these again! While they look cute, they were a total waste of $$. I've tried the Maybelline ones and liked them. I'm also excited about the Essie ones as that is my FAV nail polish. These were AWFUL! Hard to apply and began chipping almost immediately. They never fully felt like they adhered well. By last night (Monday) they were so chipped that I took them all off. 10 days my foot- they lasted 1-2 at best! I would've been better off getting a real manicure!
